What is the origin of the mullet hair style?

Well, I started the 'mullet' style back in 1923, in those days, automobiles were somewhat wobbly, no super air-ride suspension then, oh no, well, when the present Lady T and I were 'courting' we were always bouncing out of the old jalopy at the most unfortunate times, I think you're with me there! anyway, I devised growing my hair longer at the back to give the missus something to hang on to! Lo and behold, sixty years later and everybodies got a Mullet! What!
