Can anyone tell me what to expect or how this works?

Criminal trial.. original disposition date and jury trial dates set. On the day of the original disposition date, the jury trial was cancelled and a new disposition date was set. Does that mean there will not be a trial, or has the defendent agreed to a speedy trial? Not sure what this means. Anyone have any answers?
