How to retreive info from a disk?

so i upgraded my windows xp to windows vista and i saved all my pics on a disk... and to my dismay the disk CRACKED! just a lil' but enough so it wont read my photos (just like a quarter inch from the inside) SO HOW CAN I RETREIVE MY PICS NOW?? ARE THEY COMPLETELY LOST?? PLEASE HELP!
